January cohort Starts 11 January 2027, 14 places

Resign with clients already on the calendar.

Notice Period is a 12-week programme for senior people leaving a salaried job to consult on their own. You do the work while you’re still employed. In week twelve you hand in the letter, with paid work signed for the month you leave.

The application takes two minutes and tells you straight away if it’s a fit.

Most people quit first and look for clients second.

That order is expensive. I did it myself in 2016 and burned through seven months of savings before the first invoice was paid. The work was fine. The sequence was wrong.

Notice Period runs it the other way round. The salary keeps landing while you find out, with real buyers and real money, whether your consultancy works.

The usual order

  1. Resign
  2. Build a website for six weeks
  3. Wait for the phone to ring
  4. Take the first client at half price

The Notice Period order

  1. Work out your leaving number
  2. Sell one paid pilot
  3. Fill the first quarter
  4. Resign

Twelve weeks. Tear one off every Monday.

Each week has three short lessons, one piece of real work, and a check-in on Friday. Plan for five hours. Pick a week to see what’s in it.

One place for all of it, and it does the nagging so I don’t have to.

You get a client area that works like an app on your phone. Open it on Monday and it tells you the three things that matter this week.

  • Today. This week’s tasks and your next session, nothing else.
  • Friday check-in. Five questions. Your answers turn into a progress summary before you’ve put the phone down.
  • Sessions. Pick a slot, get a calendar invite. No email tennis.
  • Questions. Ask me between sessions and get an answer within one working day.

Five questions. If the programme fits where you are, you’re accepted on the spot and can take a place. If I think we should talk first, you’ll be offered a call instead.

This is the automation at work: the answers are scored and routed with no one checking an inbox.

I’m Maren Tolvey.

I spent eleven years in operations at a logistics firm, the last four as a director. I left in 2016 to consult and did almost everything in the wrong order.

It worked in the end. Then friends started asking how, and I noticed I was telling them all the same four things. That turned into a spreadsheet, then a workshop, then this programme.

I still consult two days a week. I think a coach who has stopped doing the work goes stale within a year.

I handed in my notice with two retainers signed. My director asked if I was sure. I had the invoices open on my phone.

The Friday check-in annoyed me for three weeks. Then I saw my own numbers in a row and stopped arguing with them.

I decided not to leave. Week one showed me the number and it wasn’t there yet. Cheapest lesson I’ve paid for.

Questions people ask before they apply

Can I do this without my employer knowing?

Yes, and most people do. Week ten starts with reading your contract for non-compete and moonlighting clauses. If yours forbids paid side work, we set the pilot up to start the day after you leave.

How much time does it take?

About five hours a week. Three short lessons, one worksheet and one piece of real outreach. The check-in is three minutes on a Friday.

What if I get to week twelve and I’m not ready?

Then you don’t resign. Roughly one in five people use the programme to decide to stay another six months, and that’s a good result too. Your access doesn’t expire.

Is there a refund?

Full refund in the first fourteen days if you’ve done the week one worksheet and it isn’t for you.

Do I need a business idea already?

You need a skill someone already pays your employer for. We turn that into an offer in week two.
